Running, but better.
Wave was a group project completed for the second year of my University Degree. We were tasked with creating an Android Application that utilized GPS functioanlity, before selling it to potential investors at the module. I created the concept idea, before creating the design and coding a large majority of the application.
The Application utilized the Spotify API to allow a user to listen to music, and I created our own system to allow a user to discover music based on the genre preferences they'd previously provided.
The application successfully tracked a user during a run, plotting the run on an interactive Map via the Google Maps API, and allowing a user to look back on where they'd gone, even after completing a run. The application also tracked several pieces of information for the user, including Calories burnt, miles run, their speed in steps per minute, their speed in miles per hour, and which songs they'd listened to.
As a group, we each achived a first class grade, with the Application itself also getting a First. On a personal level, I'd also class the project as a major success, as I went from not knowing Java or how to build Android Apps, to building a first-class application in the span of about four weeks.
